Stephen DiazStephen, a native of Dorado, Puerto Rico, is the founder of the Stephen Diaz Tennis Academy which started in 1996. Through hard work, dedication and commitment to his students, he's been building junior tennis champions at one of the most respected junior tennis academies in the region. He began coaching in the Atlanta area in 1991. He is a USPTA certified instructor with a rating of Professional 1 for the past 16 years. Stephen currently focuses on the overall development of highly competitive players that are looking to maximize their potential and become successful tennis players. He is a USTA High Performance certified coach and a USPTA specialist in competitive player development. With over 20 years of coaching experience with advance players, Stephen’s coaching skills, wealth of knowledge as a player and coach has helped many juniors become some of the best players in the nation. For the past 4 years Stephen has been one of the coaches selected to captain the Georgia Junior team that has dominated the annual Southern Cup. In the past he has also coached top national junior and collegiate players like Ryan Smith (Georgia Tech), Jennifer Meredith (Tennessee), Jaime Cox (Penn State), John Watts (Washington U.), Lauren Meier (Kentucky), Carl Abalos (Samford). He currently coaches top players Hunter Reese (#1 southern, #30 national), Elliot Orkin (# 5 southern) among top ranked juniors. As a player, Stephen spent his junior career in Puerto Rico were he was a top player. He went on to play #1 singles & doubles for NAIA powerhouse Auburn Montgomery, were he became a singles and doubles all-American and reached a top 4 national ranking in 1989. After college, Stephen went on to play tournaments in Europe and also played Davis Cup for his native Puerto Rico in 1993-94 & 2000. In 1992 he was Puerto Rico National Professional Singles Champion and honored as Puerto Rico Tennis Federation Player of the year and P.R. Olympic Committee Athlete of the year. Now in his 40's, Stephen still competes randomly in Atlanta Pro & AA-1 Alta leagues. |
Jason PattiJason has been with SDTA for 9 years, coaching students at all levels and is the co-director of the academy. He founded the Woodstock location, and works with many of the top players. He played on the DeKalb College tennis team during their 1997-98 championship season and was a highly ranked junior in Georgia. He has been a USPTA-certified instructor with a rating of Professional 1 for 6 years, and also certified by the American Sport Education Program. Jason has also been a USTA High Performance certified coach for 3 years. He is also very knowledgable in the latest fitness trends and techniques used to develop world class athletes. Jason's tennis savvy and experience at the junior and collegiate level has helped many juniors at SDTA develop and progress. Jason has been married now for 4 years to his wonderful wife Lee. |
Peter KrisanPeter is a USPTR certified instructor and brings 20 years of coaching experience to SDTA. Peter began his tennis coaching career up in the Northeast were he work as an assistant coach at Cresmont Country Club and also as coach at the Asims All Star Tennis Academy in New Jersey, which was home to many top juniors in the Northeast region. When he arrived in Georgia, he assisted in the Junior Program at North Fulton Tennis Center in Sandy Springs. He has taught students of all ages and abilities, from beginners to nationally ranked juniors. As a player he competed in prize money tournaments in the men’s open division in the Northeast. Peter is married to Jenny and has two kids both of whom are excellent tennis players and are currently playing division 1 college tennis at University of South Alabama. He is excited and honored to be part of a great and well recognized program in the southeast at SDTA. |
![]() 678-790-3292 Stephen PhillipsStephen has been teaching tennis since he retired from the Pro tour in 1990. He started as the Director of Tennis at Racquetime, Rhode Islands largest indoor facility. He also was the J.V Coach at Brown University Men's Team. Warmer weather brought him down to Florida where he taught at some of the nicest resorts in South Florida including the Marriot Beach Resort on Marco Island and Sanibel Harbour Resort and Spa. Stephen started working with more and more competitive players due to his playing background and has concentrated all of his energy with High Performance Jr's for the last 15 years. Stephen grew up in New England playing NELTA tennis. He won the class M singles championship for the state of Connecticut and moved on to the University of Rhode Island where he studied Economics and set a school singles record. After college he turned Pro in 1983 and competed Professionally till 1990. In 1990 he reached the Quarterfinals at the U.S Pro in Doubles and was Ivan Lendl's practice partner while Lendl was ranked #1 in the world. He was also a practice partner for former top ten women's player Andrea Temesvari. |
Mark MorneauMark Morneau has been teaching beginner through advanced level tennis to people of all ages for over 20 years and has worked with Stephen Diaz & SDTA for over 10 years. Mark attended and played tennis for Plymouth State College in New Hampshire where he became a Division III Conference Champion in both singles and Doubles as a freshman. After receiving a tennis scholarship, Mark transferred to Trine University (FKA Tri-State University), a NAIA school in Angola, IN. There he was an All-Conference Selection for 3 straight years and was a Conference Champion for 2 straight years. As a senior and a Captain, he led his team to its 1st ever trip to the National Championships in Tulsa, OK. As a senior, Mark was selected as the Most Outstanding Male Athlete at Trine University (Robert Greim Award). Mark was a 1st ballot selection into the Trine University Hall of Fame. After graduating, Mark became the head coach the Men’s & Women’s Tennis teams for a couple of seasons where he guided both teams to the National Championships. Locally & currently, Mark competes regularly on AA Alta level teams as well as 5.0 level USTA teams. |
